Library & Technology, Trinity Elementary East
My name is Amy Sherer and I am the librarian and technology coordinator at Trinity Elementary East. I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and lived around Indiana my entire adult life until moving to Dickinson in 2010. My husband, Mark, and I have three children: Sam, Katie, and Jacob. I graduated from Hanover College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. When my children were born, I stayed home with them, but was actively involved volunteering in their schools. As they got older, I eased back into school by substitute teaching and eventually came to be the school librarian here at Trinity Elementary East in 2012. During the 2014-2015 school year, I went back to school at Valley City State University to become a certified school librarian. The library is open as much as possible for students to visit as they need and desire. I love to read and I am passionate about finding ways to spark that same love of reading in my students. Additionally, the classroom teachers and I will be collaborating to provide students with relevant lessons in information literacy, technology, and research. With technology changing at such a rapid pace, it is vital that our students are prepared to handle the amount of information available to them in an efficient and ethical manner. My job is to teach them not only these skills, but also to prepare them to manage technology that is yet to come.
