Music, Trinity Elementary School
I am Mrs. Maralee Sickler and I am one of the elementary music specialists here at Dickinson Catholic Schools. I have always enjoyed music, especially singing. In fact, my bus driver once told me that when I was younger, I would sit behind her and sing songs the whole way home. Good thing it was only about a 40 minute ride! Being a teacher is something I have always wanted to do. I am the oldest child in my family and was always the teacher when my brother, three sisters, and I would play school. It wasn’t until high school that I started thinking about becoming a music teacher, and I am so glad I did! I love coming to school each day to sing, play, and make music with all my students!
I grew up on a farm near South Heart, ND, and am a graduate of South Heart High School. I studied music education at Dickinson State University and later completed a Kodály Methodology Level III Certificate from University of Minnesota, Moorhead. My husband and I live on a ranch with our three children Kylee, Emerson, and Trey. I love spending time outdoors in my garden, working with the cattle, going for walks, or just playing with my children. I also enjoy cooking and baking, especially if chocolate is one of the ingredients!
Listening to music is one of my favorite things to do, but my absolute favorite thing to listen to is children’s voices singing. It fills me with joy and is what gets me excited to come to school each morning!
